Commercial Tree & Vegetation Clearance in Redditch | Whites Foodservice Case Study

Commercial tree and vegetation clearance in Redditch carried out safely and efficiently by CJ Tree Surgeons.

Delivering Safe, Compliant Tree Works for a Busy Commercial Site in Redditch

Managing trees and vegetation around commercial premises requires more than routine maintenance. It demands careful planning, compliance with safety regulations, and minimal disruption to daily operations. This was exactly the challenge faced by Whites Foodservice in Redditch, Worcestershire.

CJ Tree Surgeons were appointed to deliver a phased programme of tree surgery and vegetation management across both the front and rear car parks, ensuring safe access, improved visibility, and long-term site maintenance.

The Challenge: Overgrowth, Restricted Access & Power Line Risks

Whites Foodservice required a comprehensive solution to address several key issues:

  • Overgrown trees impacting access and visibility around the site

  • Vegetation encroaching on buildings and car park areas

  • Trees growing dangerously close to overhead power lines

  • Limited clearance for vehicles and staff movement

  • Sensitive infrastructure, including underground water mains

The presence of power lines behind the Sycamore trees added a significant layer of complexity. Any work carried out would need to meet strict safety standards and be carefully coordinated with external authorities.

Stump treatment carried out following tree removal works.

Our Solution: Structured, Phased Tree Surgery & Vegetation Management

CJ Tree Surgeons developed a tailored, phased approach to ensure all work was completed safely, efficiently, and in line with commercial requirements.

Front Car Park Tree Works

At the main entrance, our team carried out:

  • Crown reduction of multiple Sycamore trees

  • Selective tree removal where growth posed a risk to nearby power lines

  • Crown reduction of a Cherry Plum tree, reducing height by approximately 3 metres and lateral spread by 1.5 metres

To safely complete the work near live utilities, we coordinated directly with National Grid. A temporary shutdown plan was implemented, with a generator supplied to maintain operations for neighbouring businesses.

Rear Site Vegetation Clearance

To the rear of the property, a wider programme of vegetation management was completed, including:

  • Reducing a mixed hedge to approximately 10 feet

  • Trimming back vegetation along the car park to improve access

  • Creating 1 to 1.5 metres of clearance from commercial units

  • Removing an Elderberry tree adjacent to the building

  • Removing two Buddleia trees

  • Clearing overgrowth behind multiple units

  • Reducing mixed trees, including an Apple tree, to suitable growth points

Where stumps were located above underground water mains, we used eco-plugging techniques. This prevented regrowth without disturbing critical infrastructure, ensuring compliance and long-term effectiveness.

Before and After: A Safer, More Accessible Commercial Environment

Before:

  • Dense overgrowth restricting access and visibility

  • Trees encroaching on buildings and infrastructure

  • Increased safety risks due to proximity to power lines

After:

✔ Clear, accessible car park areas

✔ Improved visibility and site usability

✔ Safe distances maintained from utilities and buildings

✔ A cleaner, more professional external environment

The Outcome: Safe, Compliant & Efficient Project Delivery

The project was completed successfully with minimal disruption to site operations.

Key Results:

✔ Improved vehicle and pedestrian access across the site

✔ Enhanced safety around power lines and infrastructure

✔ Long-term vegetation control using eco-plugging methods

✔ Clean, professional finish aligned with commercial standards

The phased approach allowed Whites Foodservice to maintain operations while works were carried out efficiently and safely.
